# Is $BOOM a security token?

**No, BOOM is NOT a security.**

Imagine a company makes a special token for its community, like BOOM. People can use this token for fun things in the company’s world (or just do nothing with it), but holding it doesn’t mean you own part of the company or get a share of its profits.

Now, let’s say the company decides to use some of its own hard earned money to buy these tokens and remove some of these tokens from circulation forever. This makes the remaining tokens a bit more rare, but it doesn’t mean that anyone who holds BOOM expects to make money from the company’s work.

BOOM is just a fun token for the community, with its value driven by how people use it, not by a promise of profit.
